    • Race packages include following items, a brochure of the competition, a racing bib, a timing chip, and a souvenir tank top. Runners of 5km Fun run will not receive the brochure and timing chip, however, a course map, an event schedule information, and a souvenir tank top will be obtained instead.

    • Please confirm check-in code on official website prior arrival at check-in venue. Identification information (ID) is required for check-in and retrieve race package. A correspondent’s ID is needed for group check-in. If you are on behalf of other participants to check in, please bring photocopies of the participants’ ID.
    •  
    • All entrants must check in at the time stipulated. An entrant who fails to do so will result in disqualification and will not be allowed to enter the racing courses. Referees have the right to expel participants who have no athlete bib from compete the event.

Timing System


Timing Chip
     
  • Timing chips will be provided for all participants in competition group. Please read the instruction manual beforehand or ask for assistance from the officials and volunteers at the race site. Please securely attach the timing chip to your shoes. It is important for runners to make sure that the running chips remain visible and unobstructed throughout the race in order to calculate the start and finishing times accurately. Do not place the timing chip in a bag, it may cause function failure to the timing chip.
  •  
  • 2018 Kaohsiung MIZUNO International Marathon adopts a racing chip system to record the race results for participants of marathon and half marathon. A timer is started immediately following the gunfire and stopped the moment participants cross the finish line. There are time controls throughout the race course. Please be sure to step on the chip timing mats located along the course route. Missing records at the start line, finish line, or any time controls will result in disqualification from the race and no racing record and certificate will be issued. Placing results are based on official timing records. Participants who finish the race will receive a certificate with racing record printed on it.
  •  
  • Marathon and Ultra half marathon participants shall start the race by your racing bib number. Elite runner group shall start before general runner group. Please take your own ability into account at the start and throughout the course. Give the way to faster runners.
  •  
  • Kaohsiung MIZUNO International Marathon has the right to forfeit or discard any results in which participants have not crossed the starting line within 20 minutes after the race has officially

  • Prize for top 10 runners of marathon and Ultra half marathon group
    Race ranking is placed according to winners’ race results. In addition to the amount of money that winners will be awarded, a trophy will also be given. A winner who has a place in the top 10 awarding rank, whose race records will not be used to compete against other participants for other rank table. According to Taxation Act in Taiwan, if the total prize income exceeds NTD20,000, the local winner shall pay for the 10% winning taxation; Winners who are not citizens of Taiwan shall cover 20% winning taxation. (Please submit a photocopy of ID or passport when retrieving the prize.)

    • Participants who are qualified for the top 10 winners of total participants or top 3 male/ female winners with Taiwanese citizenship, their racing records will only be used to compete in one of the rank table or prize.
    •  
    • To encourage senior participants, top 10 male finishers over 70 years old and top 10 female finisher over 60 years old in both marathon and Ultra half marathon group, will be awarded a trophy and a present.
    •  
    • Participants of 5km Fun run will not be timed.
    •  
    • Prize winners of marathon and Ultra half marathon, please submit a photocopy of ID when retrieving the prize. Winners who are not citizens of Taiwan please submit a photocopy of your passport.
    •  
    • Qualified winners shall claim awards at designating time. If you are not able to do so, please retrieve your prize at Awarding Division before 12:20p.m on the day of competition or will be regarded as forfeited. Please bring an identification (ID or passport) to claim the prize.
  •  
  • Certificate of Achievement(Progress)
       
    • Marathon and Ultra half marathon participants who finish the courses within time limit, please pick up your certificate of progress at issuing stand before 12:30 noon on the day of the competition (25th February 2018). If the certificate is not picked up within the foresaid time, no further certification can be issued after the event. Providing certificates of progress cannot be issued due to issues beyond control at the finish chute, the organizer will post the certificates to participants after the completion.
    •  
    • A certificate of achievement will be given to participants who finish the 5km Fun run within time limit in finish chute. Finishers can fill in running record by themselves.

  • Participants who finish marathon or Ultra half marathon courses within time limit, will be awarded a sports towel and a medal, whereas, participants of the 5km Fun run group who finish the course within time limit, will be awarded with a handkerchief. Please do not take the awards if you fail to finish the course within time limit.

  • Marathon and Ultra half marathon participants can obtain a free lunch box after the competition. Please show your racing bib to receive the lunch box.

  • A tent will be provided to a team that has more than 50 teammates on the day of competition. There are only 30 tents available which will be provided on first-register, first-served basis. (To be recognized as a teammate for certain company or association, he or she should have registered and indicated as part of a team at the time of registration)

  • There will be a refreshment station every 5KM, following IAAF rules, and between these there may be other water stations.

Violation

  • Competitors who commit the violations listed below will have their races results disqualified from the competition.
       
    • Receiving food or drinks from another party (i.e. from spectators). You can only receive food and drinks provided by the organizer.
    •  
    • Dispute with referees or not complying referees’ instructions.
    •  
    • Not fixing the racing bib number in the front area of the chest.
    •  
    • Using in-line skates, skateboards or any other rolling devices on the race course.
    •  
    • The competition adopts chip timing system. Please follow the instructions and attach the chip on your shoes properly. Those who has no chip time recorded at any chip time controls will be expelled and have their results disqualified from the competition.
    •  
    • Racing bib, chip, and pledge will be examined by referees before participants approaching to the finish line. Participants who violate the rules, insult referees, or using a substitute runner during the competition will be disqualified and expelled from the competition.
    •  
    • Pledge check points. There are pledge check points in the route of the courses. Pledges will be issued to participants who pass through the turning points. Please make sure to run through the points.
    •  
    • The organizer explicitly informs the participants regarding with pledge check points and will not be held responsibility for participants who fail to run pass pledge points or obtain pledge.
    •  
    • Video recording equipment is used at chip sensing area (at the start line and finish line). If there is a dispute on competition results, participants will need to apply for appealing to access the video record. Details of dispute and appealing procedures are stated in this document.

  • Competitors who commit the following violations will have their results disqualified from the competition and banned from participating in Kaohsiung MIZUNO International Marathon for three years. The violators’ names will be publisher on the competition’s official website.
       
    • Receiving assistance from another person or party during the competition, ie taking vehicles, shouldering etc.
    •  
    • Using false ID information during registration.
    •  
    • Violating the spirit of the activity event (causing a disturbance or insulting officials and staff, etc.)
    •  
    • Using substitution to attend the competition.



Appeals&Notes


Dispute&Appealing

  • Dispute. During the competition, competitors may not dispute with referees. Competitor cannot appeal for decisions based on athletic rules.

  • Appealing. For winners or potential winners wishing to appeal the results, appeals must be submitted in writing to the Result Referee at the finish area, accompanied with a deposit of NT$ 2000 within 30 minutes after the official result announcements. The deposit will be forfeited if the appeal is not successful

  • Storage of personal belongings:
    The organizer offers personal belonging storage service to participants of marathon or Ultra half marathon courses.
       
    • Time to check in: 5a.m. to 7a.m. 25th February 2018
    •  
    • Keeping hours: 5a.m. to 12.40p.m. 25th February 2018
    •  
    • Time to check out: 7.30a.m. to 12.40p.m. 25th February 2018
    •  
    • Please take your personal belonging to designated area to check in the items. Please use your racing bib number to retrieve your personal belongings after the competition.
    •  
    • Please store all valuable personal belongings in a secure place. The event organizer shall not be responsible for the loss of any personal items
    •  
    • Participants of Fun run course are not eligible for personal belonging storage service.


  • Safety Concerns:
       
    • Please take your own health conditions and ability into account and register to the course which you are capable and comfortable to finish within time limit. The referees or doctors have the right to stop participants from continuing the course depending on the participants’ physical conditions.
    •  
    • Participants must be in good health condition to take part of the competition. Do not participate in the race if you have health concerns, such as cardiovascular diseases, diabetes etc. The organizer do not held responsibility for participants who conceal such conditions and incidents led by it.
    •  
    • Please beware of traffic throughout the race courses.


  • Timing Chips:
       
    • Please read timing chip instruction manual carefully and attach the chip properly. Improper usage will result in no record. The organizer do not held responsibilities for such incidents.
    •  
    • A NT$ 100 deposit for a timing chip will be charged at the time of registration for either marathon or Ultra half marathon course.
    •  
    • Racing bib number and timing chip cannot be replaced. Please look after them carefully.
    •  
    • Participants without a racing bib number will not be permitted to take part in the competition.
    •  
    • Bring your ID or passport with you at the race event.
    •  
    • Please return the timing chip to the organizer after the competition. If you are not able to return the chip on the day of the event or unable to participate in competition after accomplishing registration process, please post the chip and relevant information to Rainbow Wings I.M.C to apply for deposit refund before 4th March 2018. Deposit cannot be refunded after the deadline.


  • Water Station:
       
    • Water station arrangement. Drinks prepared by participants are placed on the first table. Drinks and refreshment provided by the organizer are placed on remaining table.
    •  
    • Elite runners who prepare his or her own drinks, should hand in the drinks to referee unit by 5a.m. on 25th of February 2017. Please ensure the personal refreshments is clearly marked with your racing bib number. The water stations you wish the personal refreshments to be distributed should also be indicated when hand in the drinks.


  • For safety concerns, the organizer reserves the right to cancel or postpone the event, or change and alter any parts of the running route before and during the race in the event of irresistible natural disasters, such as typhoon.; Should the event be cancelled, participants shall not protest against such decisions. If the event is eventually canceled, after deducting the competition preparation cost, the remaining entry fee will be refunded.

  • The organizer reserves the right to publish or broadcast any videos, photographs or other types of materials recorded at this event for the purpose of promoting its activities.

  • No open flames. No smoking or flame is allowed in the competition. Violating the regulation and ignoring reminders from competition officials may result in disqualified and expelled from the competition.

  • Heat stroke prevention. 【The heat index= temperature outdoor (℃)+ relative humidity outdoor(%)×0.1】To prevent participants from suffering heat stroke, the organizer has the right to cancel the competition when the heat index is higher than forty. No entry fee will be refunded under such circumstance.

  • Reponses to abnormal high air quality PM2.5. If air quality index (AQI) is above 151-200 and reach the red standard of AQHI, the organizer will provide masks to participants who need it. The organizer reserves the right to reduce the competition time or stop the competition without prior notice.

  • Weather condition:
       
    • Should the Event be cancelled or postponed due to typhoon or other irresistible natural disasters, the organizer will make announcement regarding with notice of event cancellation or postponing via text messages and social media platforms.
    •  
    • If it rains during the competition, the racing events shall be continued. Disposable raincoats will be available for participants.
    •  
    • If it is shown a higher possibility to rain on the day of the event in a week rain forecast, the organizer may prepare more tents depending on weather conditions.

  • If you are unable to participant the competition after paying entry fees, please follow terms below to apply for refund.
       
    • Applicants who apply for refund before 5p.m. on 7th December 2017, will be eligible for a refund of entry fees and chip deposit paid in advance minus a NT$ 100 administration charge. (※chip deposit is not applicable for Fun run participants.)。
    •

  • If you are unable to participate the competition, please email to E-Better to apply for refund. The email address is dryadd98820@e-better.com.tw Please provide following information in the email. 1. Name of registrant 2. Event intended to participate (team name if you have registered as part of a team) 3. Ordering number 4. Mobile or telephone number 5. Bank account details to receive refund. Account name, account number, and bank branch code will be required. It will take one to two weeks to process the refund. Once refund applicants’ information are confirmed, entry fees will be transferred to the account you provided. Please note that you will not be eligible to compete for the race after refund your entry fees.

  • Entry fees cannot be returned if you apply for refund after retrieving race packages. However, the chip deposit NT$100 can be refunded. (Chips are not provided to participants of Fun run group.) Applicants who are unable to participate the competition due to following issues, will be eligible for a refund of 50% entry fees and chip deposit providing relevant documents are provided along with refund applications.

  • There are four control gates along the course routes. Participants who do not get to the control gates or finish the race within time limit must take a shuttle bus to the finish line. Participants must follow the instructions of race officials.

Insurance


Insurance for Participants

  • The organizer provides insurance to all successful registrants, aka participants. Participants agree and accept all insurance compensation terms and regulations without objection.

  • For safety concerns, the Organizer reserves the right to cancel or postpone the event, or change and alter any parts of the running route before and during the race in the event of irresistible natural disasters, such as typhoon. The organizer will make announcement if the event is changed.

  • Be aware of the traffic. Please follow traffic rules, official instructions, and course route all along the race for safety concerns.

  • Please ensure to provide accurate personal information in details during registration. False information will result in termination of insurance status insurance.

  • Participants shall take their own ability into account before taking exercise. It is advised to get enough sleep on the night before competition and have your meal at least two hours prior starting the race.

  • All participants are provided with public liability insurance. (Coverage details are all according to the insurance policy and term of the insurance company) It is advised that participants take out their own personal sports insurance if necessary.

  • When the insured is legally liable to provide indemnification for third-party bodily injury, death, or third-party property damage caused by any of the following accidents during the policy period and in connection therewith receives a claim, insurance company is liable to the insured for indemnification: it is insured according to the 1040823601 issued by the Ministry of Interior of R.O.C. on 2nd November 2015. Explanation of public liability insurance over10000 people:
       
    • The insured amount for bodily injury liability per person is NT$ 5,000,000.
    •  
    • The insured amount bodily injury liability per accident is NT$ 150,000,000.
    •  
    • The insured amount for property damage liability per accident is NT$ 2,000,000.
    •  
    • The maximum indemnification amount during the policy period is NT$ 304,000,000.


The insurance company does not indemnify against any of the following types of liability.

  • Injuries caused by personal diseases.

  • Illness caused by cardiovascular diseases or personal health issues, such as heart attack, shock, diabetes, heat exhaustion, heat stroke, high altitude illness, epilepsy, or dehydration etc. The insurance compensation is not liable to illness caused by pre-existing medical conditions or personal health issues. Only injuries caused by accidents are liable for public liability insurance compensation.

  • Participant who has illness history or health issues listed above is highly recommended to take out additional personal accident insurance.

  • Chest pain, breathing difficulty, dizziness for no reason, sudden loss of consciousness, hypertension, heart diseases, renal disorder, diabetes, hyperglycaemia, family history of heart disease, epilepsy, ect. Participant who have health issues or relevant medical history mentioned above are at high risk of sudden cardiac death. The participant is strongly advised to consult a doctor before taking any exercises.



Statement


Responsibility Declaration

  • The organizer will assist participants to apply for insurance compensation for injuries or damages caused during the policy period and are legally liable to the insured for indemnification. The organizer deny all responsibility for any damage, injury or damages that race participants may cause to others, entities, or physical objects even if the race participant is covered by race day insurance, federation insurance or any other insurance.

  • All race participants upon registration for the race accept and understand all the articles and regulations in this document.

  • The organizer reserves the right to modify the rules and regulations. Any further announcements or revisions to these regulations will be announced by the event organizers
